Wikipedia has a page called:

Athens is a militaristic city-state from the Conquests of Alexander scenario in Civilization VI. It is able to produce the Hoplite.

Strategy[]

Because the player cannot obtain Envoy Envoys in Conquests of Alexander, it is not possible to interact with Athens diplomatically. As such, the city-state does not provide any Envoy Envoy or Suzerain bonuses.

Due to its proximity to Macedon's starting territory and army, Athens will almost always be your first conquest. It can provide a great early boost to your military and be a valuable unit training center.

Civilopedia entry[]

The city of Athens is known for both its longevity and its cultural contributions that would help define western civilization. Serving as a cradle from democracy from the 5th Century BCE, a fiercely independent Athens allied with other Greek city-states in times of crises. After famously holding off the invasion of the Persian king Xerxes, Athenian fortunes briefly fell to the Spartans during the Peloponnesian War, and then more permanently in 338 BCE when Philip II ended an independent Athens for quite some time. However, it remained a beacon of culture and scholarship for centuries to come.

Trivia[]

  • Athens' city-state symbol is a capitalized omega (Ω), the 24th and final letter of the Greek alphabet. It shares this symbol with Greece in the standard game.
