The Byzantine people represent a civilization in the Civilization games. They have appeared in Civilization III, Civilization IV, and the Gods & Kings expansion to Civilization V. Their capital is Constantinople and their main cities are Adrianople, Nicaea, and Thessalonica.

The Byzantine Empire is actually the Eastern Roman Empire, which lasted from 395 to 1453, when Constantinople was captured by the Ottoman Turks.
