Cleopatra VII Philopator (69 – 12 August 30 BC) was the last active pharaoh of Ptolemaic Egypt. Seeking to maintain Egypt's independence at a time of increased Roman expansionism, she aligned herself with powerful Roman generals such as Julius Caesar and Marc Antony, and thus became a key figure in the civil war that led to the end of the Roman Republic and the start of the Roman Empire. She leads the Egyptians in Civilization III.
