Continental Shelf is a type of terrain in Civilization: Call to Power.

Gameplay[]

The shelf, though small in relation to the ocean, is the most cost-effective place to build undersea tunnels, undersea mines and nets.

Great Library entry[]

Historically, the submerged part of the continent, the oceanic territory that stretches up to fifty miles from the shore has supported budding Civilizations with fish and easy transportation. More recently, the shelf has been revealed to contain sites of important mineral deposits, including large reservoirs of petroleum and natural gas. Additionally, millions of tons of gold remain within the oceans as the cost of retrieving them remains prohibitive.
