Stonehenge increases the effectiveness of Temples by 50%, bolstering the speed at which your borders will expand, the rate at which Great People will appear in your civilization and the effect your cultural influence will have in enemy cities.

Stonehenge is the first available wonder in the game and costs 50 resources, so even in the Ancient Era it will take about 20 turns to complete. It becomes obsolete once any civilization researches Literacy.
