Game Info:
Edit
Anti-personel rocket unit of the Medieval Era. Strong against land units, but weak against cities. Only Korea may build it. Replaces the Trebuchet.
Strategy:
Edit
It is slightly stronger than the Trebuchet it replaces, but receives a penalty when attacking cities. So this siege weapon is best used against melee troops, making it a very good defensive weapon.
Historical Info:
Edit
Hwacha or Hwatch'a ("Fire Vehicle") was a multiple rocket launcher as an anti-personnel gunpowder weapon developed and used in Korea. It had the ability to fire up to 100 steel-tipped rockets, or 200 Singijeon ("divine weapon") flaming arrow projectiles from a range of 500 yards in multiple salvos. Its prototypes were developed as a secret weapon in the 15th century under King Sejong the Great.
The weapon consisted of a two-wheeled cart carrying a board filled with holes into which the ammunition was inserted. These small rockets were attached to the same sort of arrows as were used with Gungdo bows. They could travel up to 500 yards.
