Game Info[]

Luxury resource added in Civilization V: Gods & Kings. Unique to mercantile city-states.

Strategy[]

20xJewelry5 Jewelry Jewelry, unlike most other resources, doesn't appear on the map, but is instead made through the exceptional skills of the artisans in a mercantile city-state. Thus, it is available only if you ally yourself with this city-state. You won't get this resource if you conquer or buy the city-state - the artisans will simply disperse and refuse to work for you!

Note that only one of the two special resources is available in each mercantile city-state: either Jewelry Jewelry or Porcelain Porcelain. Note also that they are available alongside normal luxuries that the city-state will produce from the surrounding land.

Civilopedia entry[]

Jewelry is a term used to refer to articles of gold, silver, gems, and other precious materials, worn with no other purpose in mind aside from personal adornment. Ancient forms of jewelry discovered in Africa indicate that these adornments were used more than 50,000 years ago, when beads, shells, and bone were worn in a decorative fashion. In the past 5,000 years, gold has been the primary material used in jewelry, as its malleable nature and distinctive styling allowed for increasingly complex designs that spoke to the wealth of its owner.
