Gameplay

Building a Market in your city will double the effects of focusing your city Trade on Gold production. Markets also allow you to construct Banks. They are a must-have for any player trying to win an Economic Victory.

A market is a centralized location where the citizens of a city may buy or sell goods and services from other citizens and sometimes from foreign merchants. Constructed at the end of the first century AD, Trajan's Market in Rome had over 150 shops and mercantile offices. Built in the late twentieth century, the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, has some 600 stores, restaurants, and other attractions.

  • The Shilin Night Market in Taipei is the most famous market in Taiwan, due in large part to its unusual business hours. Shops in Shilin open as the sun sets and remain open until midnight or later.
