As in every game in the Civilization series, units have movement points, , in Civilization V, too. The movement points signify the number of hexes a unit can move in one turn. However, there are several attributes that may modify the number of moves available. For example, certain terrain features, such as forests, are harder to pass than others, such as plains. Then again roads and railroads make it faster to travel the hexes and by moving on one the unit does not necessarily even spend one full point when moving from one hex to another.
