In Other Civ Games[]

I think austrian cities were included in The Holy Roman Empire in civ IV.

The emblem of Austria[]

Thank you for the emblem that Austria has in Civ5.

I have no clue why it is white eagle with one head on a red background. Me be form coat of arms of House of Lorraine, coat of arms Eleanor Maria Josefa of Austria, Queen of Poland. In any case, thanks to this I finally have Polish emblem which makes me very happy. Unique Ability - spend Gold to annex puppet or an allied City-State also fits perfectly.

I must admit that choosing Austria as one of the new civilization was a big surprise for me. Austria as a country has a strongly marked individuality, a great culture and history, but still it is a Germanic civilization, very similar and closely related to German, including language, dress, architecture, national emblem, monarchs and even the font. ;) Sorry if I offended anyone, if I did it unintentionally.

Once again thank you and wish you all many successful conquests

Diplo victory????[]

Why on earth would you advise an Austrian player to go for a diplomatic victory? If they use their UA at all, they eat up their own world congress votes. Some idiot thought that because their UA has the word "diplomatic" in its name, they must be going for diplo victories... haha. so stupid. Austria's best victory is Domination (annexing city states close to enemy borders gives you great staging grounds, especially into the late game when airports let you fly in your army and attack quickly) or Science, rushing science buildings in new cities and going Order to boost production and other stats in your new cities. The coffee house also makes the new culture victory a bit easier, producing new great works more often for better mid game tourism. But austria has absolutely nothing to assist them in a diplomatic victory.

To be fair, an AI playing as Austria will almost always pursue a diplomatic victory, focusing on gold collection and maintaining good relations with city-states (which could be misleading to some players, since AI leaders usually play to their strengths). But it's true that a human playing as Austria would do well to consider pursuing another victory condition. -Mythril Wyrm (talk) 07:50, December 31, 2014 (UTC)
