Base terrain
Edit
Base terrain worked by a city citizen will provide up to 2 basic resources (food, production, gold). The resource yield of terrain can be modified through buildings, technologies, or worker improvements.
The effectiveness and mobility of combat units is affected by the type of terrain they occupy. Mobility is improved on tiles with Roads or Railroads.

Natural wonders
Edit
- Main article: Natural wonder (Civ5)
Natural wonders are unique terrain features that provide various benefits to whoever controls them. They provide a permanent boost to your civilization happiness when discovered. Their bonuses apply only if they are worked by a city, the only exception is the Fountain of Youth, which gives its benefits once it is in your territory. Natural wonders are impassable, and cannot be improved in any way. There are a limited number of natural wonders to discover on each map.
